Don began the role of Executive Director in October of 2011. He and his wife Lisa, along with their two children, Adin and Van, enjoy spending the summers serving at Arlington Beach Camp. Don has been coming to the camp since he was nine months old and it has been an integral part of his life. Arlington Beach Camp has a special place in his heart and he desires to see Arlington flourish and continue to be used by God in the various different ministries at the camp.
After finishing a one year Outdoor Recreation and Bible certificate course at Summit College in Ontario, Don went on to finish his Journeyperson Certificate in Carpentry. Coming from a background in carpentry, Don has been able to put the skills and knowledge learned from having his own company to use at the camp as it seems there is no shortage of upgrades that need to be done.
Don bravely began a Capital Campaign in 2012, believing that if he shared his vision, no matter how big it was, God’s people would respond faithfully. He was right. The Capital Campaign resulted in approximately $685,000.00 being pledged and the camp applied for an also received $113,500.00 from a Government grant. As a result, Arlington Beach Camp was able to pay off its demand loans and renovate the Kinney Memorial Lodge rooms, bathrooms and exterior. A sloped roof and metal siding were added to the exterior of the Sherwood building as well as new floor and a bouldering wall on the interior.
Arlington Beach Camp has been incredibly blessed by Don’s visionary and faithful leadership and we so appreciate him and his family!
