Area of Service: Jr High Youth
It takes many people working together to bring about the Family Camp ministry at Arlington Beach.
In the weeks to come we’d like to shine a little light on the leaders getting ready for your kids at camp.
For our second week – we’d like to introduce you to Lana Gummeson.
“I’m a lifer! I have attended Arlington since I was a very little critter and it has always been a sacred place of growth and spiritual renewal.
I began giving back when I started counselling at kids camp when I was 15 a long long time ago! I have done almost every job out here through my summers and my mom and I are new cabin owners in the past few years! I love Arlington!
I am a teacher by my first degree and I have a middle year’s specialty with music, physical ed. and history minors. I love to teach about Jesus best of all! I have always said that once adolescents stop listening or responding to me, I’ll get out of loving them towards holiness and wholeness, but it hasn’t happened yet!
I have taught for a lot of years but changed to full time ministry as a pastor in Canada and then working overseas in relational ministry and member care in Malaysia and Thailand over the past 10 years. I am presently studying at Wheaton Graduate school in the Chicagoland area taking my masters in Marriage and Family Therapy with the goal to return to the mission field even more equipped to serve missionaries and their families in the near future.
For fun I love to hang out with my 12 nieces and nephews, play games, do sports of all sorts, sing whenever and wherever possible and read a bunch!
Looking forward to my 20th summer serving at Arlington in some capacity and most especially to spending more time with our awesome middle schoolers!”
